Lake Cochnewagon

I’ve been killing to get out of town for weeks now. While in this city you can easily go for weeks forgetting the fact that you’re living on a tiny Island, this tiny Island really does start to feel smaller and smaller after a while - particularly if you’re used to the wide open roads and urban sprawl of Melbourne (or Sydney, for that matter).

This Thursday, I’m lucky enough to be heading to Lake Cochnewagon in Monmouth, Maine for a 4-day weekend spanning that wonderous of wonderous holidays, 4 July. My friends and I will be staying in a cabin by the lake with a poo-burning outhouse and practically no cell coverage. I couldn’t be more excited.

In anticipation, a friend recently reminded me of my favourite road trip/getting the eff away song, “Wedding Day” by Rosie Thomas. Click the play button above to hear it.
